Unimagine is a series that explores the world of reality and fiction. The body of work is digitally created by referencing popular cartoon icons. The displacement is the feeling I am trying to convey in this series. I collaged some visual motifs by manipulating objects I found from the real world to digital. By combining the two, I am changing the narrative to the cartoons I am referring to. I incorporated a theme in each piece that refers to the Seven Deadly Sins. My inspiration came from my youthful passion for cartoons. I wanted to recreate my childhood experience with these beloved cartoon icons so that they reflect on what is now current popular culture.
This series was inspired by pop culture artists. Their work revolutionized art culture by manipulating the works of media that emerged in Britain and America. Movies, Television, comic books, and magazines influenced culture in mass waves which allowed art to freely object to these ideas to become pop culture. In this project, I wanted to convey my messages through the use of symbolism by combining fictional characters and objects from the real world. The narrative of the story becomes your own twisted perception however you want to tell it.
